Challenge
In keeping with a mandate to better serve all residents, the Mayor of Toronto made it a top priority to cultivate an inclusive, safe and empowering working environment for all City of Toronto employees.
Solution
Through Diversio’s platform, the City paid special focus and attention to traditionally marginalized groups including: Black employees, Indigenous employees, and intersectional employees.

Developed Recommendations and Implementation of Interventions:
Consulting with City leaders and program managers to understand baseline and perceived problem areas
- Analyzing City of Toronto D&I data to identify key priority areas with a deep dive on marginalized groups.
- Auditing and reconciling all D&I programming and policies occurring across 30 City of Toronto divisions.
Producing customized recommendations for each division and consulting with City leaders on effective implementation
- Working alongside the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team to develop an action plan for meaningfully advancing D&I.
- Assisting the Mayor’s Office in their external D&I messaging (e.g., publicly announcing the City’s adoption of the Diversio certification).
